Kiwi House, art, ride on mowers and oxygen masks

Today's excitement included finding the post office to pick up a package. This will be a regular occurrence, as Amazon has limitations here.

Our wonderful daughters had asked what we wanted for Christmas, and we suggested they send us something that would remind us of them for the Kiwi House (what we call this place) and, if possible, with a NZ theme. A fantastic print turned up! You’ll see it as you walk through the front door.

The property has a range of trees, from avocados to papaya. Some have required detective work. After my plant app was stymied, and so was our gardener, I asked a local FB group about it, and they might be sapote, a Mexican fruit. It tastes like a hybrid of a guava and an apricot. They are finished for winter, and we missed out on our avocados (happily eaten by the house sitter and the gardener), but papaya is ripening!

Speaking of gardening, the place needed a ton of maintenance after the previous owners left - did I mention we have THREE ACRES?!

I found Luis on the 365 Kona Newbies FB group. Milo approved. That’s our ride-on mower.  If you are into extreme sports, feel free to try and mow the hill below our house.

PS. I climbed it about seven times the other day, building muscle around my dodgy knee, and it was the equivalent of 33 flights of stairs. Oxygen masks will be provided.

Miss you and mahalo.

Erin
